Chefs from Kerala participated Gannat Festival, France

Members of 'Sreelakshmi' Kudumbashree unit at Edaneer in Kasargod- Ambika and Rathi - had a very special privilege to function as chefs at the UNESCO-sponsored international folklore festival of Gannat, France.

Members of 'Sreelakshmi' Kudumbashree unit at Edaneer in Kasargod- Ambika and Rathi - had a very special privilege to function as chefs at the UNESCO-sponsored international folklore festival of Gannat, France.

They could win the appreciation of all the participants of the festival by serving authentic Indian cuisine and mouth-watering dishes from Kerala. Ambika and Rathi were the chefs for Thythareeyam,  the 25th anniversary event of Folkland India held at Kanhangad in Kerala. Impressed by the culinary expertise of the ladies, the Folkland authorities recommended them to the 42nd of Gannat festival.

Ambika and Rathi, from the villages of Kasaragod district were bestowed with the responsibility of providing authentic Indian food. Thousands of participants from different countries could taste the delicious Indian and Kerala cuisines during the ten day long Festival of World Cultures in Gannat. They served Kerala dishes like Sambar, Thoran, Olan, Kalan, Pappad, Palpayasam to the guests at the festival. They also served Kutttanad style fish curry, tribal style chicken curry, and different types of Dosa.

To maintain the authentic taste of these dishes, the required ingredients were imported from India. The lip-smacking dishes prepared by these ladies could win the hearts of all the foodies of Gannat Festival.

The team led by Saranjini Jayaraj from Thrikkaripur, also include Pushpalatha puppetry artist from Shoranur.
