Kochi-Muziris Biennale concludes its sixth edition with 7 lakh visitors

The sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale drew seven lakh visitors, reaffirming its status as a vibrant “People’s Biennale.”

The sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale concluded on March 31, drawing around seven lakh visitors and reaffirming its place as a major global contemporary art event.

Spread across 29 venues—the highest in its history—the festival transformed Kochi into a vibrant cultural hub over three months, with strong public participation and diverse artistic engagement.

Dr Venu V, chairperson of the Kochi Biennale Foundation, described the edition as “highly successful,” noting its wide outreach and dynamic creative exchange. The next edition is scheduled to open on December 12, 2027.

Artist-curator Nikhil Chopra called the biennale a transformative experience, highlighting the role of collaboration, trust and community in shaping the event.

CEO of Kochi Biennale Foundation, Thomas Varghese, termed it a “People’s Biennale,” emphasising collective effort, learning and public engagement as its defining strengths.

The closing ceremony featured a live concert by Parvaaz, the music -band.
