Ettunombu Perunnal at Manarkadu St.Mary's Church, Kottayam district

01-08 Sept 2025:Ettunombu Perunnal at Manarkadu St.Mary's Church-  The annual feast, Perunnal at the St. Mary's Church at Manarcad and the Eight day fasting, known as Ettunombu, are celebrated during these days. This is the feast of Immaculate Conception celebrated by the Christian community of Kerala. Usually, the devotees stay in the church from morning till night during these days for observing the fast. The main offering here is Muthukkuda, the silken parasols.

Onapottam at Nittoor, Kozhikode district

04 Sept 2025:  Onapottam at Nittoor- The ritual is considered as Theyyam and character represents Lord Mahabali, the King of Kerala mentioned in the legend of Onam. About ten performers in Onapottan costumes assemble at the ancestral home Pantheeradi Madom in the early morning (6am) and then each performer go around the villages separately to bless the devotees. 

Location/access: This ritual is practiced in the village of Nittoor and Nittoor can be accessed from Ambalakulangara bus stop on Vatakara- Kuttiadi road, Kozhikode district.

Seepothi Theyyam at Nittoor, Kozhikode district.

16 Aug 2025: Seepothi Theyyam at Nittoor-  Sree Bhagavathi, shortly called Seepothi is the Goddess of prosperity.  The Goddess appears in front of their devotees in the form of Seepothi Theyyam to bless them and to recover them from the struggles and illness. Seepothi Theyyam along with a folksinger cum percussionist visits all the homes in the village for a short performance and to bless the household members. Usually about six pairs of performers go around the whole village since early morning to evening.  

Maari Theyyam at Madayippara, Kannur district

01 Aug 2025: Maari Theyyam at Madayippara-  Folk ritual Maari Theyyam is performed near Madayikkavu in the morning (10am- 2hrs). This ritual is observed to keep away the epidemics and there by achieve good health. Different characters of Mari Theyyams are Maari theyyam, Mamari Theyyam, Mari Kalachi, Mamachi Kalachi and Mari Gulikan.

Ulsavam at Thirunakkara Mahadeva Kshethram, Kottayam

19- 26 Jun 2025 : Aani Ulsavam at Thirunakkara Mahadeva Kshethram- Ritual ceremonies and processions are held on all these days inside the temple. The most important processions Pallivetta and Aarattu are held on the last two days consecutively, outside the temple complex.  Caparisoned elephant, traditional orchestration Melam are part of the processions.  Thirunakkara Mahadeva Kshethram is a temple with traditional architecture adorned with wooden carvings, sculptures and murals.
